Heated Rivalry - Review by Jay Quiles

This week’s “Chatter” features Jay Quiles and their review of Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid. Jay is an English Literary Studies and Secondary Ed double major, as well as a FIT intern for the English department. Check out their favorite quote and what they have to say about Heated Rivalry below:
Դ Voices Magazine: Chatter“Does it...does it feel like agony for you too?'
Ilya started to nod, then stopped. He shook his head slowly instead.
'Not anymore.”Heated Rivalry, the second book in the Game Changers series by Racheal Reid, follows Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov through a ten year journey of conflicted passion. One of the most interesting aspects of this novel is Reid’s ability to produce a romantically bittersweet story while fully encapsulating the complexity of queer relationships. I find stories like this so important to read because not only does it provide representation for queer communities, but it also is just a beautiful and poignant story that drills itself straight into your heart. While the book, and series as a whole, is intended for very mature audiences with its adult content, I still whole-heartedly recommend it for any readers who are interested in stories centered around queer men.
